Determining Your Power Needs
How much electricity does my home require during a power outage?

Actual wattage demand of your appliances and electrical devices will vary depending on their age, brand, and other variables. Appliances that use motors require more power to start than to run. The best way to determine your power needs is to consult one of the local KOHLER Power Professionals from our Sales & Service Network. They will analyze the actual electrical load for your home, then specify and install the proper KOHLER residential backup generator system.

You can estimate your home's power requirements by referencing the following list of common applications.
  1. Choose a fuel to run your generator.
  2. Select the group of applications you'd like to run during a power outage.
  3. Click on the KOHLER generator model number to view technical product information.
Typically, residential generators range in size from 8.5 to 50 kilowatts and are fueled by natural gas (NG) or propane (LP). Larger generators and diesel-fueled units are also available.
